Abstract
A novel strain identified by the morphology and 18 S r RNA namely,Haematococcus pluvialis LUGU,was used to explore the effect of fulvic acid(FA) on the growth of algae and the production of astaxanthin in this study. As a result, the biomass of H. pluvialis increased by 4.26% and 10.58% than controls and the astaxanthin content reached 20.82 and 12.23 mg/L in 5 and 10 mg/L FA-treated culture, respectively. Particularly,5 mg/L FA enhanced 79.23% with 37.46 mg/g in the production of astaxanthin more than that of control group(20.90 mg/g). The result indicated that FA was a effective factor to enhance the production of astaxanthin at appropriate concentration.
