Abstract
Objective: To investigate the antioxidant activity of flavonoids from Laoling jujube leaf in vitro and in vivo.Methodology: The antioxidant activity of the extract was evaluated by spectrophotometry on its ability of scavenging hydroxyl radical (·OH) , superoxide anion radical ( O-2·) , 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazy ( DPPH·) and total reducing power. The zebrafish was used to test the antioxidant activities of flavonoids. Results: The total flavonoids from jujube leaf had well scavenging activity to DPPH·, ·OH and O-2·at the concentration from 0.2 to1.0mg /mL, when the concentrations of sample were 1.0mg /mL, the highest scavenging were reached to 65.4 %, 55.0 % and 75.5 % respectively. In vivo experiments in zebrafish showed the three relative concentrations ( 20, 50, 100μg /mL) of the antioxidant capacity were reached to 49.6%, 58.6% and 77.8% respectively. Conclusion: The total flavonoids from Laoling jujube leaf showed effective antioxidative action both in vitro and in vivo.
