Abstract
Response surface methodology was employed to optimize the culture medium for exopolysaccharide production from Fomitopsis pinicola. Exopolysaccharide yield was investigated with respect to the concentration of sucrose, yeast extract and MgSO4 ·7H2 O based on these results of single factor experiment. A quadratic regression model was established on a three-variable, five-level center composite design. The optimum concentration of sucrose, yeast extract and MgSO4 ·7H2 O were 186g/L, 7g/L and 27g/L, resepectively. Under these conditions, the predicted value of EPS yield was 4.02g/L, while the actual value was (3.92±0.18) g/L. So response surface methodology was feasible for optimization of fermentation medium of Fomitopsis pinicola for EPS production.
