Abstract
An antibacterial actinomycetes strain D- 8 was isolated from octopus intestinal using gradient dilution method. The identification of the strain D- 8 was determined by their morphological characteristics, physiological and biochemical tests, and phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rDNA sequence comparison. The results suggested that this strain had an over 99% homology with Streptomycest and therefore the strain D- 8 was identified as Streptomyces. The potential antimicrobial and antifungal activities of the fermentation products of this strain was also investigated. The results showed that the fermentation products exhibited obvious inhibition against both Gram negative and positive bacteria and some fungi. The active compounds are to be settled in our further study.
