Abstract
Objective:To study the protective effect of polysaccharide from Citrus reticulata ‘Chachi' Peel on H2O2-induced oxidative injury in PC12 cells. Methods:Cell viability was assayed by MTT method, the toxicity model was established by treating PC12 cells with H2O2.The level of MDA, SOD and GSH-Px were measured by spectroscopy, respectively. Results:After being exposed to 100μmol/L H2O2 for 4 hours, typical morphological characteristics of injury were observed. The level of MDA increased significantly, while that of SOD and GSHPx decreased significantly in H2O2- induced group compared with that of the sham group.Polysaccharide from Citrus reticulata ‘Chachi' Peel could decrease MDA content and increase SOD and GSH-Px activity significantly. Conclusions:Polysaccharide from Citrus reticulata ‘Chachi' Peel had protective effect on PC12 cells injury induced by H2O2 in culture. The protective effect might be related to the increased activity of antioxidant enzymes.
