Preparation of chitosan/lemongrass essential oil and research of composite film character

Chitosan composite film was prepared with chitosan and lemongrass (Cymbopogon citrates) essential oil. Physiochemical properties and antibacterial abilities were tested. FTIR results showed that there were interactions between lemongrass essential oil and chitosan functional groups. SEM images revealed that lemongrass essential oil homodispersed in chitosan matrix. The results showed that transparency of composite films decreased and tensile strength, water vapor barrier properties and antibacterial abilities were improved
