Immunomodulatory effect of alpha-galactooligosaccharides from Stachys Floridana schuttl.ex Benth

  • An alpha-galactooligosaccharides (α-GOS) sample was prepared from Stachys floridana Schuttl.ex Benth by ethanol extraction and D101 macroporous adsorption resin purification, and immunomodulating activities in vivo of α-GOS were evaluated by using immunosuppressed mice model experiments. The results showed that α-GOS with a purity of 76.39% mainly composed of sucrose, raffinose and stachyose, and stachyose accounted for about 86.03% of α-GOS.The α-GOS could significantly increase the index of spleen, activity of Lysozyme in serum, the swelling rate of ear in delayed-type hypersensitivity of immune suppress mice induced by cyclophosphamide in a dose-dependent manner. Therefore, α-GOS from Stachys floridana Schuttl.ex Benth had a good immunoregulatory activity.
